So many ignore the “yoi” position of putting the hands together, paying no attention to the mechanics involved, and sometimes just put them together like a soldier going to attention except they are in front instead of to the side. They completely miss the applications that are there. Thank you for showing yet another basic, simple application.

If you slow it way down, he does an unnecessary pass of the blade on his second tap of it. He actually stops the blade with one motion and then reverses it with the second motion, but he fails to move his leg out of the way. The other guy is being compliant for the demo, but there’s a very good chance the instructor could have cut his own femoral artery with that maneuver. There’s also way to many transfers with the hands once the blade it brought up to chest level. Even in Silat/FMA, which can be very complex to implement, there are more mechanically simple solutions.
